How to prepare for SAT in Sherlock Holmes’ style?
In one of the most iconic scenes of Sherlock,
The world’s most famous mind tries to break an almost unbreakable code. After thinking various combinations, he finally gets the answer; His very own name, Sherlock.
While preparing for SAT, one may not have such a dramatic and almost heart stopping roller coaster ride but the process remains the same. When you learn the art of eliminating improbable, you invariably are left with the correct choice. Reading, analysis and expression can be a soporific act for many at the onset of preparation but once we learn to play it like a game, it can be one of the most thrilling experiences. It builds confidence to cross barriers that we feel are impossible to start with. This newfound confidence allows us to start stretching our capabilities and pushing the envelope to our limit and beyond.
Excellence is the triumph on one’s self-doubt turned into confidence. Perfection is conversion of confidence into effort and hence the result. We must never forget that it’s the horse that comes before the cart.
Imagine! A question is followed by some options and only one is correct that is hiding amongst many imposters. You have all the facts before you. It’s teasing and testing you.
Here comes your inner Sherlock. You start eliminating the improbable.
A is given verbatim in the passage so it can’t be an inference.
B is wrong as it changes the data.
D is not mentioned anywhere so it also goes out.
Now between C and E, C is tempting but it’s incorrect as the question is about a specific state and not states in general.

So E is the guilty one.
Problem solved…
Are you game?
